Debt is one of the longest relationships most people will ever have. Like a bad relationship, people recognize their problem but delay doing anything about it. Farber’s challenge was not to explain debt. It was to disrupt the silence around it. To make people confront what debt had quietly become in their lives and give them permission to leave. So, we set out to treat debt like the toxic partner it is. “Break Up With Debt” reframed a financial burden as a human one. Instead of reassuring people that help exists, the campaign showed them what they were already living with.

Debt was built as a physical character, constructed entirely from real bills, receipts, and paperwork. Nothing was generated. Nothing was simulated. No AI. The materials were intentional. The results were real. Each scene was crafted around a recognisable toxic relationship behaviour. The scenes were shot as film and stills with the same restraint and intimacy, then translated into radio, where the relationship played out through sound alone. Different formats. Identical behaviour.
